Talked to them today and ordered a rebuilt 3rd E Locker. FYI- Even though the site says they use Yukon, they told me today they now use Nitro Ring and Pinion. Nice folks to deal with and very helpful.

I thought I had researched the replacement of my u joints to death. Little did I know of a key word "Double Cardan".

So I have my drive shaft scattered on the floor and now I find out that the DC is a nightmare that I shouldn't have tackled, but the squeaking is coming from somewhere and I might as well replace it all with 240k on it.

1. Is there any DIY resolve to this?

2. Does this have to be purchased from the dealer?

3. Are there any drive shaft shops in Fort Wort or Dallas that can repair this?

First off let me say thank you for all the great tech info you guys have posted. I have been lurking for a while stealing great ideas and ogling at some AWESOME rigs.:kewl:

I am currently in the process of doing some upgrades and marveling at the fact that my 02 have held up so well with 235k miles on it.

Some where about 50k ago a noise started and it occurs only at 45 and 55 mph on acceleration and deceleration. Upon inspecting the U-shaped cast iron mass in circled by steal and mounted to a rubber block, I noticed that the rubber block had sagged.

The iron block is rubbing against its frame and worn off some material.

1. Has anybody had experience with these being the source of a whining noise?

2. Is there a fix for these things without having to go to the stealer?

3. Is there a part number for the rubber mount?
