What do You guys think of the new red/black FJ.

So, my GF and I took her '08 silver FJ in for some warranty work and we saw a red FJ with black trim and black TRD wheels. We like it so much that we are thinking about a trade in to get it. I'm all for keeping my cars for a long time and taking care of them. But, my GF likes to get a new car about every 5 years or so. It would be ironic, because we took our FJ in because the alternater isn't working. But a new battery went dead and I had the alternater tested at another place and it didn't pass, twice. So if we traded it in they would eventually have to deal with it. And the red FJ would match my red/black Mini Cooper S with black wheels. They would be like garage twins.

So, I was wondering what you guys thought of that color combination? And, how do you find out which dealerships have a red/black FJ? Because, I hate our dealership.

Thanks,
Shawn

Springtail M-PAC question

I just installed my pac set up and one of the velcro mounting patches doesn't want to stay on the rack. The snaps come loose by themselves or when I try and remove the pack. Any suggestions on how to tighten up the snaps? I'd think there was a simple solution, but I don't know it...

Thanks in advance!

Mike

I guess I should have said from 0 miles to 100,000 miles in that amount of time. :bigthumb:

Took ownership 9/01/2006 and hit 100k on 5/18/2012. Minus the first 2 miles from what Toyota put on it, I have put all those miles myself. I've never done that with a vehicle I've owned before, kinda interesting to think about that many miles. Most of it within my great home state of Utah.

I planned it so she would flip while out on the dirt on one of my favorite areas near where I live. Up in the Strawberry/Current Creek/Heber area.

How many of you that clicked over to 100K were on dirt when it happened? I was able to and it just felt right. :)

Beautiful day in the mountains...rain, snow, and sunshine, all within an hour.

.....can't wait to see what the next 100,000 miles will bring me.

Took the FJ to a Jeep Dealership…….

Well We have been Contimplating getting a Jeep Wrangler Sport S for me and the Wife as a 3rd vehicle, so we rolled in to the Jeep Dealership with the FJ today to see what they had as far as prices.... They came out of the wood work to check out the FJ! Like every sales man, manager and anyone working there!!!! Not one salesman made a single bad comment, and several even had better to say about my FJ than about their Jeeps they were trying to sale! None the Less after Excepting a ton of Compliments and even A "I will give you cash" offer, We checked out A couple of jeeps.. Who Puts carpet, Fancy clothe or Leather seats, all sorts of Electronic dodads in a vehicle intended to be driven with the top Off? Seriously Comparing a Jeep to a Fj Side by side really make the Jeep seem So pourly designed and equiped... but then Came back to finding several Would be customers looking in and crawling around checking the Dark Angle out :rocker::rocker: Well Atleast if I ever need to Sale it I know where I can unload it fast and Im petty sure I made a few Toyota sales today!!!!!

Ultra Gauge Temp Alert

So today my FJ was sitting in the sun all day. Was about 83 degrees out. The hottest its been since I installed the ultra gauge...

So I start it up and about a minute down the road it says "ALERT: UG TEMPERATURE ALARM"

And it displayed some temperature numbers. It keep doing this every 30 seconds for the next two minutes of so then stopped.

Anyone know what this is?

OEM vs. After-Market Opinion on Air Dam/Lights and Bumper Lights

I am considering buying the air dam/light kit for the roof and also an extra set of bumper lights - all from one of the ebay vendors such as Gear Jammin or FJ Parts Warehouse. Both companies say the parts are made to OEM specs but I have seen one of the companies parts and they definitely look cheaper than OEM. Specifically, the FJ emblem is a sticker (that isn't even cut out with clean lines) and the glass on the lights feels very cheap and easy to break.

I was interested to know your opinion on these products?

The reason I would go with the ebay products is because I like the look of the OEM products better than other after-market non-oem products. Particuarliy, I like the look of the FJ caps on the 4 lights, and also like the look of the air dam (as opposed to some other type of light bar/air dam design).

The ideal situation would be to buy original OEM parts but that is dificult to find now that Toyota has issued the stop-production order on these parts. Alternatively, I could buy quality after-market products as long as I could fit a set of OEM FJ caps on those lights, and if the air dam looks comparable to OEM.

Any opinions on quality of the OEM replicas, or ways to buy non-oem replicas but make it look like OEM? Quality is of primary importance to me as I don't want to put something cheap up on the 2011 trail teams and cringe everytime I look at it.

Thanks ...

FJ Secrets

So was spending endless hours on this forum last night, as usual, and realized that there is no thread that holds all of the FJ's many secrets! For me as a newb to the moding the my FJ these little freebies are great.

I'm talking about mini mods like changing the stereo color, turning off the seatbelt buzzer, and disabling the DLR's. I know there is threads on all of them, but I'm gonna work on compiling them. I hope other's don't mind me stealing their work, I'll try to give credit where its due.

Feel free to add anything you know of
