Back in a Nissan again
Just got my 2005 Xterra 4 days ago. Had a 1991 Pathfinder, loved it but traded it in on my wife's MDX. Wife gone now I'm back ! Thinking about a 2" lift and looking for a Ipod adapter. Has anyone tried the USA Spec iPod Interface ?

Intro!
Hey, folks! Recent nursing school graduate. :present-big: 2007 Xterra as a graduation gift after five long grueling years of zero social life, a few hospitalizations, and handling my two little ones. Shout out to Mom and Dad for the gift! They worked hard to save for it, and I'm so appreciative. See you around the forums! :thumbsup-big:

Hi! :)
Hi! I'm pretty new here so I figured I'd introduce myself.
My name is Lindsay and I'm currently at Auburn University. War Eagle!
I don't actually have an xterra yet, but I'm working on getting one when I move back to FL. I'm not too familiar with the models, but I'm hoping to find one with AWD so I can go off-roading and herping. I currently drive a little dodge neon which is great for gas mileage, but not so much for the off-roading part. :)
I'd love to find someone who may possibly be looking for a commute car. When I move back to FL I'll be looking to trade my neon in (hopefully for an xterra). It gets 35mpg and is really a wonderful little car.
Otherwise, I'm just here to learn more about xterras and hopefully make some new friends in the process. I have a lot of plans for the xterra, should I ever managed to get one. Off-roading lights and a bullbar will be the first things I add.

New To The Nissan World
Hi All,
Just purchased my first Nissan, an 07 Xterra. Traded in my 05 Jeep Liberty CRD (Diesel), and this is my first vehicle that is NOT a Chrysler product and so far very pleased. A little about myself, I live in South-East Wisconsin, I have a wife, 2 kids, and a big dumb dog. I have been a VW Auto Tech for over 7 years now, so I am Auto Tech Savvy. I currently have 60k miles, which I believe is big for maintenance, so I will be doing all of that soon. Looking forward to chatting with ya and I'll see ya around the forums!

Too good to be true? New but not for long…
Hey guys about to pick up a 2003 for $1200.... it was so nice and clean inside and ran well except for a little bit of a chatter/knocking. I read that a lot of nissans normally sound like sewing machines. I just thought the car was cheap because of the bad mpg (like 17 right?) It ran nicely, took off in 3rd gear. Engine didn't seem to be misfiring when under heavy load. Sounds kinda like too thin of oil ( I hope at least)
Not sure the best way to share the sound of the engine so you could tell me what you think

Buying a new (to me) Xterra….hopefully
Hi everyone!
I'm in the market for a used SUV in the Denver/Boulder area.
I'm focusing my search on Xterras (05's, primarily) and 4Runners ('00-'04). I'm looking to spend no more than $9500 which leaves me with high mileage cars and I have no problem with that as long as they're reliable, but I can't speak to the Xterra reliability.
I'm looking at three X's today, all in the 130K-150K mile range. One on CL says the Transmission was replaced 10K miles ago so I assume he had the SMOD issue. If the tranny was fixed, and assuming the radiator was replaced also, should I be worry-free from having SMOD happen again?
In general, what's everyone's thoughts on Xterra reliability. Whatever I buy I'm intending to keep for a long time and expect to drive it until the car dies. I plan to maintain it religiously and not planning to off road it. It will just be a daily driver and my daily transportation to the hills for mountain biking.
I've had a high-mileage 4Runner before and have seen dozens with 250K+ miles but should I expect that same longevity from the Xterra?
Any tips of things to look for when I go see these vehicles today? Where's the plus for the transmission to see if they have SMOD?
Thanks in advance for your feedback. Hopefully I'll be buying an X and have more to post in the future.

Ay-ohhh!
What's up guys? I'm from Texas, I go to school at Texas Tech. I got my X last summer (2011) and haven't done much to it except add a Lobo rack to it. I'm hoping to do more things to it this summer.
