My 2001 Xterra V6 has that coolant smell when finished driving. When I park and get out of the truck is when it smells. When looking under the hood I see no signs of leakage. No leakage is on driveway either. About every 2 weeks I have to put more coolant in. Also when I am at an idol with A/C on I get a random skip or stutter. If the A/C is off this does not occur. There is no moisture on passenger floor board. So I think the heater core is Ok. After scouting around these forums I have not been able to find any of the cures that have been offered that seem to help. One more thing that I can offer up is that this all started about a year ago when I washed the engine with Gunk. I let the truck cool off for about an hour before I sprayed the Gunk on. After I let the gunk sit for 10 minutes or so and washed it off. I drove the truck and the hesitation at idol began. It seems that it had the coolant issue prior to cleaning the engine so I believe there are 2 separate issues. Thanks in advance for your help folks.

I have been looking for the last hour and cant find a tread that helps me so
I have a 04 x 3.3 sc I've been having poor mileage over the last few months around 12.3 mpg used to be 14 mpg i had the ks code cleared and replaced the ks no change new cap rotor and plugs still no change it runs great good power no codes have noticed some black soot on the exhaust like it may be running rich but no raw gas smell Im not a super mechanic but i hold my own
any ideas would be greatly aprishated

My Xterra was leaking gas when I filled it and I pulled off the access panel to check the top of the tank and found that all but 2 bolts where missing from the fuel pump assembly cover. I got new bolts and was thinking the gasket was still good but it still weeps and is giving me a evap fuel error code. I found the gasket listed on Napa's web site and it looks to be just an O ring but they want $17.00. This seems kinda high if it is just an O ring. Does anyone know if this is something other than an O ring or some special material? I have not tore into it yet as I am still at work.

I'm starting the process of removing my engine for a rebuild. As part of this task, I need to remove the front differential. I assume to do this, I need to remove the front cross member. This cross member has two bolts on each side (which I have removed) but it is also welded in place with two weld beads on each side. So here are my questions:

Am I right in assuming I need to remove the crossmember?
If so, do I need to grind these weld beads off?

(BTW, the title says 2001 but it's really a 2002; I just can't edit the title.)

Best heard when the recorder is outside the car, you can hear it in the car but some of the noise is also just me turning the wheel.

Also I don't think I am turning it enough to rub the bump stops as it is only about 25% turned

ALSO when I am moving about 5-10 mph as i take a turn while turning the wheel I feel through my foot against the pedal a sort of pop as the wheel is being turned, no idea what that is, not loss of control or anything but it does pop every time I take a turn that I have to turn the wheel over 50%. It is not a HUGE pop and is not audible but it happens and I feel it through the pedal.

I was just told that the shocks on our 2011 Xterra will not pass inspection --- seems very odd at just 15k miles. No hard driving --- never been off-road.

I need some help! I just replaced the oil pressure switch on my 05 xterra because the gauge was reading high for the past couple of days. Once the switch was swapped the gauge read normal and I thought it was fixed, boy was I wrong. Now when I start to drive my X it starts to lose pressure and gauge starts to drop all the way to the "L"??? I have checked the oil and it is topped off like it is suppose to be and now I am not sure what to do next? Has anyone ran into this issue before, I would really appreciate the help.

Here are also a few codes that were pulled P1716, P0744, P0128, P0011, P0021. any help will do on what to replace if you have had these codes before.

2001 nissan xterra 3.3 L 4x4. It stalls at idle when warm. A shop replaced the distributor on it but $700 later it still has the same problem. Poor kid can't afford the part throwers in these shops. I tested the MAf and had him install a new fuel fiter.
I thought my young brother in law was blind when he told me he could not find the EGR valve. After he limped the car to me, I was amazed that i could not find one either - in day light with an inspection mirror and flashlight. Where did nissan put it? I was going to clean and or test the Egr valve.:icon_question:

Hello everyone!! I have a 02 se Xterra sc edition. I have a small coolant leak coming from the firewall?? Ive looked around the forums and really couldnt find anything. It's the piece coming from the firewall to the hose that is broke and causing the leak. Does anybody know the name to that part?? Here is a picture:
